Mercury 60 hp bigfoot problems.

I have a 2012 Mercury EFI 60 hp motor that came on my Tracker 175, which I bought new. In the second year of use (after the warrantee was expired, of course!), while pulling my kids on a tow-able, I shut the motor off to collect a kid from the water and when I went to crank the motor, ALL of the electronics were dead.40,762. At the bottom of the tank is a drain. Drain the vst tank. Refill with fresh fuel via the primer bulb, drain and repeat until the fuel runs clear. Get some of Mercury's Quickleen add to the fuel tank following label directions. Then mix some Quickleen and fuel at a 1part Quickleen to 4 parts fuel mixture put this in the VST tank.I have a 2003 60 HP ELPT EFI that the alternator may not be working. I went for one of the last outings yesterday with my 2008 Whaler and Mercury 60-HP BIGFOOT. All season long I quite often had problems running at 1,400 to 2,000-RPM and anywhere in between, a swing of 400 to 600-RPM. If you had to replace one part it would be this. It is part 881070 for about $69.00. It is located on top of the throttle body and fairly easy to replace. Otherwise, I would have to advise you to have an experienced and certified Mercury tech check over the motor with his test equipment. Kenny.

Make sure all connections are clean and tight. Use a multimeter and test for voltage at the battery- you should have 13.8 volts+ at 1200 rpm.
